Cardabilities DT Reveal Sketch #78

I am sharing with you today another very lovely sketch from Cardabilities!

I was asked by a friend to create 2 special graduation cards for her cousins and this is 1 of the 2.
I'll be sharing the other one in my 2Crafty Chipboard July DT Reveal post in a couple days.

As you can see, I used some lovely 2Crafty chippies on this card and accented them with just as lovely flowers and leaves.  I adore doilies so this sketch was perfect for me!

I really hope you will play along with this sketch and share it with us at Cardabilities for a chance to be featured right there on the Cardabilities blog in 2 weeks!

Gold Tag (My Creative Scrapbook June Tutorial)

Today is my tutorial day at My Creative Scrapbook.

As you all know by now, the MCS June Main Kit is full of bright and bold colors and fun Summer designs.  After having created 6 very Summer-y layouts and cards, I wanted to use my leftovers to create something a tad bit different, that little something that would force me to think outside the box.

The gold sequin trim that comes with the kit served as inspiration.

I started off by cutting a tag shape out of a sheet of corrugated cardboard.
Because I knew that this would get dirty, I kept a paper towel underneath my tag and started misting the tag with black Glimmer Mists.

I then mixed some Perfect Pearls gold dust with water and using uneven strokes covered parts of my tag with what looked like pure gold.

I cut a square and a rectangle out of 2 different patterned paper.

I inked the edges with black Distress Stain.

I then added some more gold.

Using the same gold mix, I covered some letters from the form Thickers package.  Knowing that I wanted to spell 'Gold' (had you guessed?  hehe), I decided to turn a 'D' into an 'O' as I had already used up all the O's for my other kit creations.

I completely covered half of a flower with black stain, then proceeded to lightly dust some gold on both the flower and the Love chipboard tag.

I then started layering the different elements together on the tag.

Then came the flower and some stickers to spell out my sentiment.

Picking apart some of the sequins off the trim, I glued some of them in the center of the flower and a few here and there on the tag.

I then added the final touch of tying a piece of sheer ribbon and sequin trim at the top.

It just goes to show that sometimes when you think outside the box, your creativity takes you places where everything that glitters....  is GOLD!  :)

I'll just let the images speak for themselves :)

The 2Crafty chipboard pieces I used are:
Flowery Swirl Frame (one of my favorite!!!)

Cardabilities DT Reveal Sketch #77

I am thrilled to be able to stay on the Cardabilities DT for another 3 months, especially after seeing all the sketches to come.  They are all gorgeous... as is this one, #77.

Sometimes I get inspired by a sketch and I follow it to a T.  Other times, my creativity branches out a little and the design starts to take a life of its own, although if you look very closely, you can still see many elements of the original sketch.

The horizontal strips on the sketch turned into flags and a piece of pleated ribbon.  You can see that I flipped the sketch and the 3 flowers are now on the left with the metal flower taking the place of the cogwheel as the main focus.  The buttons in the center of the flowers were replaced by jewels.

You will have surely recognized the whimsical "Country Garden" collection by Bo Bunny
How soft and sweet is this collection!

Here you can see the pretty Frosting Jewels also by Bo Bunny.

I hope you will play along with this new Cardabilities sketch and link up before June 28th for a chance to be featured.  Go check what the rest of the DT created for further inspiration!

About A Boy (SATW June Challenge)

If you're addicted to everything scrapbook like i am, you've probably heard by now of the new and exciting challenge blog, founded by one of my fave scrap ladies, Helen Tilbury from South Africa.

Helen has gathered some of the best designers from all over the globe to inspire us with a mood board and a sketch each month.

I wasn't able to play along with their first challenge last month, but there was no way i would miss the June challenge.  And let's not forget some fantastic and generous sponsors!

Take a look at the inspiration for June!

Being a huge Bo Bunny fan, when i saw these images, i couldn't help but think of the Mama-razzi 2 collection i bought a couple months ago.  It wouldn't surprise me if i wasn't the only one whose muse started chanting Bo Bunny at first sight of this mood board because Mama-razzi 2 seems to be the perfect match, in theme and color, to some of these pictures.

Here is my creation:

I incorporated many elements from the sketch into my double-page layout:
banners, flags, paint splatters, stamped circles, etc...

The vintage-style pictures of my friend Nath's son Tristan are just so adorable and complement perfectly the ecclectic, retro feel of the mood board and the Bo Bunny embellishments.

I love these chipboard stickers from Mama-razzi 2!

I used Bo Bunny stamps on top of masking to distress the look of my background a bit, and topped it all off with splatters of copper-colored paint.

If you were inspired to play along with this challenge, you still have until June 25th to link up your creation right HERE on the SATW blog!
