Yesteryears (OUAS & WW1 challenges)

I spent a few hours scrapping this weekend and played along with 2 awesome challenges.

The November challenge at Once Upon A Sketch consists of using this lovely sketch along with 'My Happy Place' as a journalling prompt.

And, since I love to work with white lately, I have found a great Australian challenge blog called White... with 1 whose requirement is to use only the color white complement by 1 other color every month.  This month's color is 'blueberry'.

But, silly me, I didn't read the entire rules before playing along so didn't see that my layout had to be exclusive to the WW1 challenge so I'm out of the running for the prize, but nonetheless, I am very grateful for the inspiration as I just love the color scheme of my finished layout.

My grandparents' house... one of my happy places, where I spent so much time as a child.

The journalling reads:

Pepere & Memere Allard's house
Some of my fondest memories took root inside that house on the hill where I spent all my Sundays of yesteryear.  To this day, whenever the Savoie family gathers in what is now my Uncle's house, I can still feel my late grandparents' presence there: Memere sitting at the kitchen table playing cards and Pepere closeby nodding off in his rocking chair.  I feel so blessed to have known such kind souls and to have had this second home where I felt warm, safe and happy, a house built on family values and love.

I added some SnowTex on the chipboard trees and dabbed white paint all over my layout to give it a more Wintery feel.

The background was done using a piece of corrugated cardboard painted white.

Thank you for visiting!
