Just Plain Cute
(SOE & SOS layout)

I spent another couple hours tonight playing with
the January 'Adore' kit from Scraps of Elegance!

I went a little off the trail with the kit with this one,
going a bit more fun and funky rather than romantic and elegant.

I was inspired by this darling sketch challenge over at Scrap Our Stash:

Scrap Our Stash have come up with a new fun challenge concept.
The Sketch +3 Challenge is to use the sketch as inspiration and incorporate one item
from each of the 3 lists unto your page.  These are the elements I chose:

List 1 - American Crafts (foam sticker title)
List 2 - Basic Grey (very vintage BG rub-ons)
List 3 - Chipboard (Blue Fern Studios)

You can see here that I used the Bo Bunny foil transfers from the SOE kit
and Ranger Distress Spray Stain (from the Color Add-on) to create a bright and shiny background.

In my flower cluster is a combination of Prima,
Blue Fern Studios and stained wooden hearts.

Here you can see some of the Basic Grey rub-ons and AC Thickers
(not included in the SOE kit) that I added to participate in the SOS challenge.
I thought they made the perfect match with the kit to create this very shabby chic layout.

These are some of my favorite pictures of my niece Daphne when she was a baby!

I hope you liked my page.

I will be back over the weekend with some more Scraps of Elegance inspiration!

Best Day Ever
(Scraps of Elegance 'Adore' Kit)

I'm back again to share another layout created with the 'Adore' Scraps of Elegance kit.

When working with a kit, I love to create at least 1 double-page layout,
as I find that double the page, double the products I can use!

Here's a better look at the 'Adore' kit:

I also used several add-on kits: Elements, Color and Floral of which you can learn

This kit made me think of love and romance and weddings!

The wooden hearts were painted with silver paint, then covered in glitter paint
with a faint touch of Finnabair microbeads from the Color Add-On.

I'll be back in a few days with more showcasing of this elegant kit.

Let me know what you think!

3 Of A Kind
(Scraps of Elegance 'Adore' Kit)

I'm showcasing today my first SOE DT project
created with the January Scraps of Elegance kit!

The January SOE kit is called 'Adore', a very fitting name as you can't help but adore it!

It features the very elegant 'Blush' collection from Blue Fern Studios
as well as chipboard also from BFS and lots of pretty embellishments.

I also used products from these following add-on kits.

Elements Add-On

Color Add-On

Floral Add-On

Let's take a look at some close-ups:

This title is also from Blue Fern Studios but not part of the kit.
You can see that I used the TCW stencil with distress ink to add
some shabby brick design on the background.

I absolutely love these Romantic Page Dangles from BFS.

My nieces (the 2 on the left) and their cousin were flower girls at their cousin's wedding
and they loved every minute of it, even the long photo sessions!

If you love the Blue Fern Studios paper collection in this kit,
then you will surely love this new collection that Blue Fern Studios
has just released called 'Serendipity'!!
Make sure to tell your LSS to order it now!

I'll be back tomorrow with another SOE kit project!

Live Your Dreams
(Prima Product Picks)

It's been a while since I've had the chance to play along with
Prima's Product Picks challenge and I'm happy I was able to this month.

Here is the Prima PPP board... very beautiful as always.
Click HERE for all the details.

I was inspired mostly by the palette of copper, peach and lavender gray.
As you can certainly recognize, the paper I used is from the Butterfly collection.

I fussy cut some of the butterflies in the papers and combined them
with loads of Prima flowers and leaves, wood icons, paper butterflies, sequins, crystals
over a senciled background and peachy pink and silver mists.

The picture is of my niece Daphne during a visit to Butterfly World.
She looks so serene and concentrated on this photo... so pretty!

Thank you Prima for the inspiration!

Be True Card
(More Than Words Mini Challenge)

Are you enjoying so far the More Than Words main challenge?

Well, as you know, we offer not 1, but 2 monthly challenges at More Than Words.
The Mini Challenge is a quick and fun Facebook challenge based on just 1 word
that you have to use on your project, either a card, a tag or an ATC.

I created this very shabby chic card:

As you may have guessed, the mini word for January is "Be".

The badge, the focal point of my "Be" card, comes from My Mind's Eye.

Another thing that makes the Mini Challenge "mini" is that you only
have a week to enter, so don't waste any time and check out the details HERE.

Down By the Seaside
(Guest Designing for Artastic)

I was very happy to be offered a Guest Designer spot on the
and my GDT reveal is today!

Having always been very interested in Art, I love the concept of this challenge blog.
There is so much inspiration to be had by looking at other talented artists' work,
the talent is limitless and the possibilities are endless!

The inspiration artwork at ARTastic for January is called
Bondi Scene by Isabelle May Hunter Tweddle.

The challenge criteria, quite obviously, is a Summer theme.

Click HERE to learn all about this challenge and how to enter!

Here is my take on the challenge:

The overall Summer theme of "Bondi Scene" was my main inspiration so I picked
a picture of my boyfriend Yves walking by the seashore in our hometown as the main focus
of my layout.   The first design element you notice when looking at this artwork
is the artist's unique style of using thick paint strokes.  I tried to reproduce this technique
on my background by using lots of white gesso with a spatula mixed with mist and acrylic paint
to create an effect of foamy blue seawater near the top and sandy beach at the bottom.

I then added many sea-inspired embellishments and dabbed everything with a bit of white paint.

Thank you Artistic for having me as your Guest Designer this month!!

(Blue Fern Studios Reveal Part 2)

Sharing with you today another layout created for BLUE FERN STUDIOS!

I gave tribute this month tot he 3 most important ladies in my life,
my nieces in my layout yesterday, and my mom in this next one.

Using papers from the Blush collection, I combined the soft feminine colours
to create layers of pretty flowery designs perfect for such a special photo and person.

The word 'amazing' from the Brilliant, Amazing, Dazzling set seemed
like a very fitting title as my mother is certainly an amazing person.

There are so many beautiful pieces in the Blue Fern Studios chipboard selection,
but I have to say that the Medley designs are my favorite, this one called
Flourish Medley being no exception. I cut it into 2 pieces in order to be able to
border the complete right side of my page.

On both the title and the Flourish Medley, I used the Honey embossing powder,
and then dabbed on some yellow and white paint with a sponge.
Adding a whitewash effect with dabs of white paint over my paper
and embellishments is somewhat of a signature style that I use on pretty much
all my creations as you will be able to see in the coming months.

And here's a last close-up showing the beautiful elegant designs on this paper!

Thank you for joining me today!

Blue Fern Studios products used:
paper: Blush (Reminisce, Fondness, Calling Cards)
chipboard: Flourish Medley, Amazing word
embossing powder: Honey

The Perfect Pair
(My First Blue Fern Studios DT Reveal - part 1)

It is time for me to reveal my very first post as DT member for the
wonderful BLUE FERN STUDIOS!  How exciting!

Click HERE to see my full post!

This page of my 2 beautiful nieces features the Timeless collection.
The papers from this line are so gorgeous, romantic and elegant, exactly my style.

I added some added texture and design to my background
with the Texture Circles stamp set.

I treated both the Flutter Medley and Grande Cage chipboard pieces the same,
by first covering them with a thick coat of gesso which I heated until it bubbled.

I then experimented with a coat of Oatmeal Imagine Ink embossing powder,
and decided to add some brown paint, topping it off with a coat of
ivory metallic shimmer paint to give it a polished brassy look.

This picture of Ella and Daphne dates back a few years... precious!

Come back tomorrow for another Blue Fern Studios share!

Blue Fern Studios products used:
paper: Timeless (Papillons, Main Street, Calling Cards)
chipboard: Flutter Medley, Grande Cages
embossing powder: Cotton Candy, Oatmeal
stamps: Texture Circles
